How to make a base joint

Hi there! Its that time again to do some repairs and modifications.

This time, we'll talk about the joint almost everyone needs, and that's the base joint. I call it the base joint since is the small hole where you connect your Gunpla to action bases. Yeah sure, Bandai provides multiple connectors for their action bases to handle almost all of their released kits.

What I'm about to show you is, in my opinion, better than using all of those multiple connectors. Instead, we use the single HG connector peg like this

that is common all action bases.

Here's what is going on. I have here a modified HG 1/144 105 Dagger, and it has its own base that fits his very own base joint. Now the problem here is, how can I use Bandai's Action Base 3 for some action poses because the HG kit itself has a different base joint.
Let's start with this.

See How they are different?

Ok, Ikimashou! Let's start.

Here's what you need:

Side Cutters
Plastic Plates (1.0mm)
Drill bit/ Pin Vise (diameter of the drill bit should be the same with the peg of the base)
File
Super glue

STEP 1: Disassemble your kit. Isolating the problem.

STEP 2: Cut a small rectangular PlaPlate that would fit the hole on the bottom of the hip part.

STEP 3: When you're satisfied with the size of the PlaPlate, super glue them on another pieces to achieve the thickness required.

TEST FIT: Test fit the PlaPlates into the whole.

STEP 4: When everything is secured and the thickness and length are good for you, it's time to super glue them in place. Disassemble first the hips so not to super glue all the parts of the hips.

STEP 5: Cut the excess plastic using a side cutter. Make sure that you cut the PlaPlates on the same length.

STEP 6: Cut another piece of PlaPlate with dimensions similar to the middle part of the hips.

STEP 7: Drill a hole in the middle of the PlaPlate piece. This will serve as the hole for the peg of the base.

STEP 8: When satisfied, Super glue the PlaPlate with hole into place.

STEP 9: Once super glued, drill the center hole to have the peg of the base fit the hips.

TEST FIT: Test fit how the peg of the base will hold the whole hips.

TEST FIT: Reassemble the whole kit and test fit how it holds on the base.

ACTION POSE:

The sole purpose of changing it into a peg is for the dynamics of the poses you can do such as these...

The peg gives you a swivel effect to get that much more needed dynamics in the action pose.

And that's it for this issue.
