How to recreate a missing or broken part

Hi again! Its been a long time since I last posted a tutorial. This time around, the dilemma broke out when we moved to a different place. Packing stuff and everything including Gunplas. Sad to say that when I was pack my HG 1/144 Aile Stiker pack, one ot its boosters fell and broke its fin. I looked for the broken piece but it was gone and was eaten by the "Floor monster."

So today's tutorial, involves on creating the broken fin with plastic plates.
Here's what you need.

Plastic plates (1.0mm)
Blade (any cutter would do, mine is just an X-acto blade)
Side cutters
File
Ruler (metal ruler for a better guide in cutting PlaPlates)
Super glue (use plastic cement if you prefer to)

STEP 1: Isolate the problem, take the two boosters and compare the damage.

STEP 2: Use the other booster that is not broken as a guide and trace the pattern on a Plaplate. I used a panel maker to trace it out.

STEP 3: Cut the traced Plaplate replacement using side cutters. It is up to you whether you will use a blade instead. Its easier to use a side cutter than using an blade in my opinion.

See how the Plaplate replacement would fit the broken part.

STEP 4: File down the sides of the Plaplate replacement to smoothen it out. Also bear in mind the shape, make the Plaplate replacement refined.

STEP 5: When you're satisfied with the shape and smoothness of the replacement part, apply super glue and immediately stick it to the booster.

Here's the result.

TEST FIT: Reassemble the whole Aile Striker pack.

TEST FIT: Test fit the Aile Striker Pack and see how the replacement fits the whole image of the kit.

And that's it! Project complete!!!

Now the replacement part is up for painting and have it covered up to match the color of the booster.

Simple huh?

And that's how simple you can address this issue.
