Today will handle the RG connectors included in each RG kit. What's with it you ask? well, Bandai designed them, specially the early ones, to be use with Bandai's Action Base 2. The connectors were designed to fit the square peg of the base.
Bandai then figured out that this is kinda troublesome and starting RG 14 Strike Freedom, they redesigned the connector to have another hole that will fit the cylindrical peg most bases have.
See the connector here, this is from RG WingZero. Notice, it has 2 holes now unlike the earlier releases. Modelers now have the option to use the square or cylindrical pegs.
Now our problem is how to use the connector with a square hole in another base aside from Bandai's Action base 2
What you need:
Side cutters
hobby knife(x-acto)
file
Before we start, we'll ask the help of HGBC Balden arm arms. We will use these parts you see inside.
STEP 1: Cut the pegs on the parts from the Balden arm arms
File it down to smoothen it out.
STEP 2: Cut the part into a small piece. Try to make the small piece same length of the RG connector.
File it down again to smoothen it out.
Ta~da!!!!
Now back to the bases. I chose to do this because logically speaking, the Action base 2 has the same cylindrical peg on top like the normal action base. With this modification, I can use the action base 2 or the other bases.
See here that the modified RG connector can be used to either the old action base and the action base 2.
Now you have a more playable options using the RG connector. No more problem using other bases and no more restricted to using only the Bandai's Action Base 2.
So until then... ^^,
